An implant is a titanium metal tooth root form. The implant is secured into the jaw onto which a new bespoke tooth may be placed to give the appearance of an original tooth.

The implant must integrate to the bone before the crown may be attached and this process may take a few months. The advantage of an implant is that it involves no shaping of the teeth either side of a gap and it preserves bone in the jaw there. Implants are generally very effective and may offer a long-lasting solution to patients who want to avoid removable false teeth.
